History, culture, and gastronomy.

The earliest settlements in the Oltrepò region, for which artifacts have been found, date back to the Etruscan period; later came the Romans and the barbarians. The Middle Ages were marked by the presence of great historical figures such as Matilda of Canossa, popes, kings, and princes, followed by the Benedictine monks, who built one of the most beautiful monasteries in northern Italy here.

Nature.

In centuries past, vast expanses of forests covered the land along the Po River. Thanks to reclamation efforts carried out over the centuries, the river has been “tamed,” and today we can enjoy wonderful excursions to discover natural oases, islands, and the region’s flora and fauna, even through small boat trips.

Shopping.

In addition to the city of Mantua, where shopping, history, and art come together in a wonderful blend, making even a short walk a very romantic experience, the Mantova Fashion Village has also become a major attraction in recent years. Here, the top brands in clothing, sports, and home decor showcase their best in a large open-air shopping center that resembles a small town in every way, hence the name “City of Fashion.” (Credits image www.mantovavillage.it)
